Massachusetts Institute of Technology Information Systems, Systems Programmer I (July 1982), Systems Programmer II (December 1983), Systems Programmer III (March 1991). Shared responsibility for installing and maintaining system software on an IBM 9121/480 mainframe under the VM/ESA Operating System; Designed and installed an accounting system using IBM's SQL/DS database product, PL/I, 370 Assembler, and Rexx. Responsible for ongoing maintenance for the accounting system and the SQL/DS accounting database. Designed and implemented an automated Online Consulting System to support mainframe customers. Installed AIX on IBM mainframe to provide NFS file service for MIT's Cray YMP supercomputer. Designed and implemented monitoring system for production servers. Designed and implemented a client/server based system which allowed computer operators to monitor and acknowledge important system messages.

 

Database Experience:

Responsible for initial selection and production use of SQL/DS at MIT. Assisted Database Services Team with SQL/DS installation, recovery, maintenance, and debugging.

 

Internet / World-Wide-Web Experience:

Installed webserver on IBM mainframes and set up website for I/T Service Process (part of MIT Information Systems). Implemented Kerberos authentication on IBM mainframe webservers by porting Project Mandarin software to VM/ESA.

 

Human Resources Experience:

Served on a quality improvement team which researched the time gap between problem reporting and problem resolution. Received training and was appointed as a quality advisor within MIT Information Systems. Served as a facilitator for a team which investigated document delivery issues at MIT. Assisted the Associate Provost in conducting harrasment awareness seminars for adminstrative officers. Assisted the Vice President for Information Systems as part of a team responsible for interviewing candidates for Director level positions within the organization. Completed 8 day Project Management training course administered by Duncan, Nevison & Associates.

Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Consultant. Provided occasional assistance in use of Focus to maintain the budget database under VM/SP on an IBM 3033.

 


* October 1981 - June 1982

Massachusetts Institute of Technology Information Processing Services (IPS), Programmer. Responsible for the development of utility software on an IBM 370/168 running VM/SP and on a Honeywell Level 68/DPS running Multics. Additional responsibilities included consulting, and assisting members of the MIT community with problems encountered using the computer facilities.
